Buy an iphone 4 out right. And go to three and get a sim contract for £15 you will get 1gb of internet . 600mins and 3000 texts . I did it this way because i did not want to have a contract for 18-24 months . you pay £35+free phone (after you give them £100 upfront fee) with recent contract tariffs. So 24months X £35 + £100 = £940 a year :O . I payed £250 for iphone 4 . And £15 for 12 months = £180. So £430 . Thats alot cheaper way . And you can change your phone when ever . Easy peasy. And im sure you can sync to itunes on ubuntu .

EDIT** you can jailbreak iphone and get free paid apps e.g tom tom £60 for free . And loads of others

+1, when it REALLY matters, don't double up functionality, get separate tools.

After all you CAN use a torque wrench to undo most of the bolts on your bike, so do you really need a normal ratchet?

No, don't get an iPhone and jailbreak it.

You will struggle to update the OS and it then becomes complicated. I jailbroke for years and am telling you from experience.

Get the iPhone and keep it standard and with a good case. It will keep its value that way.

+1 on separate satnav, using your phone as one is a right pain! Try and get an ex display for cheap if money is tight. Or buy a broken one on eBay and fix it. I got a tomtom rider v2 from eBay, the fault was that it wouldn't charge... Changed the battery for £10 and voila, works perfect.

Well, I really like this phone.

Except that the sodding thing doesn't work properly.

Intermittently the touch screen functionality goes mental, phantom clicks sending you into the "search" screen, unable to click elsewhere etc.
Fine one minute, knackered the next, then back to normal again.

Any ideas?

Has not been taken diving, run over in the garage, sprayed with diesel or anything random.

It's f*cked AGAIN!

This time the power button has gone so I can't unlock it, or switch it on.

Hmmm, or not, must have been some crap stuck in there.
