Default Re: Accelerated access test / to remove restrictor?

I was just about to start a thread with a similar subject to this one !

I've been on a restricted license for a year, i'm 21 in April so was also contemplating whether to do the "Accelerated Test". I feel that i'd be confident enough(fortunately passed my A2 without any instruction, just read sh*t loads of books and videos online) to take my bike to the test centre , swap the restricted ecu with the full beans one, and undertake the test. I wonder if this is possible?!

Anyone got any ideas?

I'm yet to phone them and ask, but I'm hoping that's possible as that'd make most sense and be the cheapest option.

Let me know if you find out any more!

See this tells me that you are not ready to lose the restriction.

Implying that anything to do with Insurance or the DVLA could have anything to do with sense shows a lack of the required experience :P

Why not?
A quick skim through a couple of my policies does not say anything about that.

You are covered for the bike on the road provided your licence allows... being over 21 a provisional is sufficient when accompanied. Surely fine or fine enough.

I'd probably go down the route of it being "fine enough". I do recall when I went to the test centre on my own 125cc unaccompanied , the examiner asked me to fill out a declaration confirming I had suitable insurance on the motorcycle. He didnt really give a do-dah if I did or not, saying that it was my problem and not his.

I was reading up about that. As long as you're displaying L plates, accompanied by an instructor/examiner and being given instructions through radio, it IS legal and covered by insurance.

Right, I have an answer from Bennetts insurance.

They said I would be covered as they have us down as Full License just with a "modification" too the bike. The gentleman clarified with his manager and aslong as I am doing my test while the bike is unrestricted then I'm covered. I stressed that I wouldnt have any additional insurance from training centres and he still said I would be covered. I asked for this in writing but he said that would not be possible but because all calls are recorded that it would be on his head so to speak.

Jobs a gooden it appears
