Excellent debate and repartee, but what am I going to do this year ? Run the thou for another year or sell her on while she’s still got her looks and get a super sports ? Here's another vid from earlier last year. Different Gixxer 750K5 as camera bike.

Ratty, how stock is the suspension on your SV? Apart from the obvious difference in the way the power is delivered on an IL4 Superbike they all come with fairly track oriented suspension, where the SV clearly doesn't. If it's lap times you are chasing then it may be "cheaper" to tweak what you have? If on the other hand you really do want that "Oh my God, I'm going to die" feeling then there is no substitute for 170+BHP....!

30 ride outs be about 3 years worth.
So in all its not a deal breaker. Plus the roads would have a pot holes

Personally I don't think you'd have much problem selling as you've obviously been keen to look after it and a lot of people will buy from an honest enthusiast.

Another thing I forgot to mention if you're undecided between a Superbike and a smaller Supersport is the running cost, especially tyres. I'm lucky if I can make a rear last a day on the 1000 (at some circuits like Lydden or Brands I have to turn it round at lunch time) where my son who runs exactly the same tyres (although 180 rather than 190 size) on his GSXR 600 can do several days on a rear, and his lap times are practically the same as mine.........unless we go to Silverstone or Spa where I can really let her loose!

I wouldn't use a 1000 four for the track, but I am tempted by the Gixxer 750, preferably a K6 / 7. I'd like to try a 600 again. I've not ridden a supersport 600 since my first track experience on one of Ron's at Donington, back in 2005. I do like the forgiving drive the big V offers out of the slower turns. Anybody want to lend me an 848 for a day ? My thou does look pretty at the track though, next to all those tatty track bikes.
