You didn't say whether you had checked the chain adjustment/wheel alignment. Start with the simple stuff.

Hi Blapper, probably worth looking at - however, the vibrations are still there when still.
An odd question, usually I go by the swing arm markings, but I know they can be off sometimes. How do you measure that the wheel is straight? I'm thinking, would the carbs if they are unbalanced causes odd vibrations, it feels like the vibrations are unbalanced - say if one carb is giving more fuel than the other? |

There are countless reasons for odd vibrations, I have not even scratched the surface. From Spark plugs not been fully seated due to crap in the threads up to a broken crank but keeping it real, I would go over the things you have touched in day to day maintenance first.
Get a two metre long length of straight wood, lay it alongside your rear tyre on bricks so it touches the edges of the rear tyre and you should find an equal gap both sides of your front tyre. A piece of string with a loop around the valve then back around the rear of the rear tyre then bought close to the front edge of the front tyre on both sides will do the same thing, but is more fiddly and needs good light. |

Hmm ok, makes sense - I will give it a bash when I can. Couldn't I use a ruler of something similar to measure from the back of the swingarm?
I'm wondering, could the issue be related to spark plugs? I have noticed an odd misfire from the front cylinder, mainly when cold, but does it sometimes when warm - I have a fender extender, and have not changed the plugs since 7k miles. |

Although wheel alignment is worth checking, it won't solve your question. If the vibration is there when the bike is stationery the the problem is unrelated to the wheels and drivetrain.

Its an old curvy, albeit low mileage,so a thorough service is probably in order. All the usual like oil/filter plugs carb balance throttle cable free play etc plus choke cable and plungers and a leccy check.Battery and earth connections and a multimeter on the charging system to eliminate any issues there. Also ensure the fuel hasnt got water in it somehow? All breather pipes and airbox correctly seated?
Another way to check wheel alignment is to accurately measure the distance between the swingarm pivot bolt and the rear wheel spindle.Same both sides?

It is worth checking anyway as I have not really ever checked the alignment.
What do you folk think of my previous post about the spark plugs? I am pretty new to all of this and am learning as I go, when putting new plugs in, is is tighten by hand, then quarter of turn afterwards? |

The bike hasn't been left outside, so I can rule out water. She does need a full service, so I will do that first. The Throttle cable does need adjusting definitely. |

That is the standard way of putting plugs in, do that.
Why do you think the throttle cable needs adjusting? You know the cables are push and pull don't you, not just twin pull cables? |

When on left lock the RPMs increase, turn it to the right it goes back to idle.
Great stuff, I will get that sorted later this week. |
