Matt, Whereabouts in Wales was it?
I went up to Corwen and Bala last week and saw loads of signs for cameras, but not a single one. Are they hidden?

I am now worried.....

Right, its almost always an instant ban for 30mph over the limit, not double the limit. You have got a lot against you because it was a gatso and not a patrol car though can you prove what the conditions were like at the time? Clear, dry, not much traffic at all?

It is still up to their disgression but in this day you will more than likely get a ban. My brother got caught doing 107mph on the M1 I think it was. He was 19 and got a 2 week ban, a 60 pound fine and NO points on his license BUT he was caught by an unmarked car which noted down that his driving was immaculate and that the conditions were good, in their exact words "if you were just doing 97mph we would have left you alone but you broke the ton so we had to do you, sorry mate" and they were very cool and reasonable about it all.

You can ask a friend who happend to be in the country at the time to take the flak and just pay them the fine but I wouldn't want to do it unless they were actually in the country, oh and its NOT your responsibility to make sure they were insured, that is down to the driver, its almost always the drivers responsibility.

If you dont have someone to take the flak all you can do is argue all the good points (clear, dry, no traffic, bike in good condition, got to drive for job, have kids, etc) things that you may not necessarily be able to prove but won't harm you for saying and then just take what is dished out.

Sorry you got caught mate. I know the exact feeling.

oh yes forgot to mention, as mentioned above:

Be very very polite, apologise lots but do not play them for idiots AT ALL. My brother turned up the smartest he had ever and was very genuinly sorry. In my opinion its the best defense you have.
