Been out for my first ever ride with my dad today, he's now got an SRX6 which thankfully means he can't show up my crap riding too much. His lay off from riding must be of about the aeon like proportions mentioned above.

He was busy telling me how the old drum brakes front and back were actually quite good. I smiled and nodded politely and got him a blanket for his legs.

Soft English bestards, when I was a wee lad we weren't allowed any of that dreaming nonsense. It was up at midnight then a twenty oor shift doon the mine, 4 hours to try to get yer motorbike going then back to work. And don't talk to me about gravel. Bloody gourmet sh***e.

This must be the "old duffers talk about antiques" forum.

Bah! humbug
Us old 'uns are as young as the bikes we ride (SV650 naked)

Do miss the road side engine stripdowns though and the 6 volt electrics powered by a 60W dynamo.
Eh lad, we used t' eat carrots so we could see int' dark.

Jonboy...a 250 Kawaaki triple was my first bike! KH250. Not quite as sexy looking as the S1 but I loved that bike to death. Do you remember those plumes of smoke when you started to cane it?! No doubt you had fun like me also in the rain with cylinders popping and farting! Ah such memories!

Yes that plume of blue smoke from the three silencers was somehing special, personally I think Kawasaki is actually responsible for the acceleration of global warming.

Nice to see you back Peter, where have you been?

ah, peo0ple after my own heart...
i have owned a 350, 400 & 750 kawasaki triple, a GT 250, 380 & 550, and 4 rd 350's, the current one being an aircooled 74 thats being converted to an LC 350 motor.
the SV is the closest thing out there to the fun factor of these little bikes. This who had them know exactly what i'm talking about.
one difference:
I'm only 32

glad to see you guys back on the roads!
