One bit of advice:
Don't believe the on-line quotes. You'll always get better ones if you speak to them personally. Have you tried Biketeam? They did £403 fc for my '03 Hornet (less than a year old at time of insuring); that's new rider/0% NCB/never owner a bike before, garaged, std HISS immobiliser plus Thatcham/SoldSecure Chain/ground anchor/disklock, 8000 miles pa, pillions and commuting (not Class 1 b/u). Admittedly, I'm a bit older that you and I live in a leafy suburb rather than a city centre. I also have a claim-free 20-year car driving history to point to and a relatively low-risk occupation (it makes quite a difference, apparently). Good luck, but the quotes your getting seem like a lot of money to me ![]() |

I'm shocked at the amounts you've been quoted, it's silly money. One of the FC quotes was more than the cost of the bike... Can't offer any suggestions on other brokers as so many have been offered already. However you will save 10% or so if you do IAM training (only costs £85) and it's a skill for life. If you have TP only then make sure you have some R&Gs on the bike...

Those quotes are obscene. You must be really keen to even contemplate taking them on. My current insurance is £79.00 tpf&t on a '02 SVS with six years no claims. How on earth can Insurance companies justify the figures they have given you?

i had the same prob when i was gonna get a brand new SV (hence me being drawn to the site)
but then i got a quote for a 2002 CBR (in bloody good nick) and im paying 600 tpft 21 no no claims Hiss immobiliser live in bad area parked in drive (high risk area) TPFT im with redline. personally i think you should shop about for a second hand bike. there are quite a few for sale and it will bring your insurance down quite a bit. and having say 10 or 20k on the clock is nothing nowdays. buy vineys bike , its curvey too ![]() |

I will only save my self a couple of hundred pounds buyind an older bike, so a new 1 is the way forward, and the bike will deffinatly be getting the crash bungs, they will be fitted at the same time as the 33bhp restrictor, before it comes out of the showroom!
I think the stupidly high insurance is due to my £6000 insurance claim in my car! ![]() |
