We use a set of bar straps (oxford code OF99) and a couple of sets of ratchet straps when we move our bikes. Never damaged one yet.

Buy my bike and I'll supply you them to take it home FOC

My dad got the van, but i think it was about £54 from Salford Vanhire in Leeds, that was for 24 hours and included insurance.

it would be around 600miles

i can hire a van for 25 a day or pay someone 200 quid to ship it up properly

by the time i take in food, diesel etc etc it might be better getting it shipped

havent won the auction yet, and probably wont as its already a little steep

Find a day when it isn't ****ing down, put some decent insulation on and make a day of it.
600 miles really isn't that far if you give yourself the whole day to do it in.
