The other week riding through the alps my engine.. puct..puc..pact...puct... packed up on the side of a mountain cos of all the water. Mind you that was riding through clouds and heavy rain. I was thinking IT WAS a major problem i can laugh now but at the time there were several expletives.

I agree, it's very underrated, but you'll find that the SV is on another level to the gpz.
build quality on the SV is questionable at times, but alot of it is finish rather than mechanical problems.

Welcome to the site.

I rode my naked K3 from new for 5500 miles including in a couple of torrential downpours - never had any mechanical problems whatsoever.

The finish wasn't great, not helped by my less than rigorous attention to washing it, particularly in the winter - things improved a bit when I hosed it down after every run.

And you're right, black is the best colour for a bike...

Surely if the bike doesn't work in the wet then that's a warranty issue. Dear Suzuki...your bike doesn't like water....fit for purpose issue....Forget UK wet? Fix please.

i phoned suzuki who denied there was a problem!!!! bit like saying the tl 1000s' rear rotary damper worked really well, and the hayabusa's sub frames snapping werent a problem (but we'll change to a steel sub frame anyway). - gits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

'cept every documented case of the busa subframe snapping was because people had changed the cans, wasn't it? And they were load bearing?

Been there, tried that. It really is easy to get it to stop doing it.
Mine was fine till June then went one wet night on the way to the Annual Rideout. It's not gone since, even in awful weather because I regreased it when I got home.

"There is no design flaw with teh SV's front cylinder, however we've changed it in the newer models for no reason whatsoever, not beause of a design flaw, oh no. What do you mean, it didn't work? There was nothign wrong in the first place! Certainly not a design flaw of any sort..."

not sure but either way, for a bike that is designed as a sports tourer, i.e two up and poss luggage its not acceptable. if they are still saying that, why did they change the subframe to a steel one?? never heard of any other bike having subframes snap because after market cans were fitted. dont think its mentioned in the owners handbook either. why dont suzuki just admit there is a flaw and sort under warranty.
