This could all be rubbish, it's just from a few observations not hard facts y'understand. I never really noticed it either way when I was mucking about on injected SVs so I'm far from 100%
mine doesnt,
when its warm it runs at 1.3k like its supposed to.

but then again - its not an SV

I did take a while getting used to the Ducati having a choke lever after me having an FI SV. Somehow didn't seem right on an injection bike? However even on the coldest day(?) opening the lever about 1/8th of it's travel is more than enough to fire her up. I normally close it down fully after just 20 seconds or so.

This issue can be caused by two basic types of disfunction.

1./ mechanical input
2./ Electrical input

1./ can be divided into;
a/ throttle body
b/cable
c/ cam (or the mechanical throttle linkage)

2./ can also be divided into;
a/ sensor feeds (water to low for example)
b/ sensors (temp & throttle position would be my starting point)
c/ wiring ("rubbed" or melted wiring gives incomplete info to the ECU)

Although as Sid Squid says, it's probably just a sticky throttle cable.

Cheers Mark.
