I bet it took them ages to draw that. Remember folks, it was in MCN, that gives it maybe a 5% chance of being true.

Funny how now as we are all so used to the look of the 916 and co. That all of those big criticisms that people had of the bikes,(and there were plenty!) seem to melt away.

I also love the look of the 916 to 998 but would not give up my 749 for a 748 for example. Why step backwards? The latest model is by far the better bike although I accept that it does not for many people have the same eye candy appeal.
Peter for once and it doesnt happen often does it I totally agree with what you.

Why step backwards in looks or technical improvements.

I think they need something that shouts "I'M DUCATI 9xx" but isnt a clone of the 916 or the 999 something different. Maybe take a styling cue from the MotoGP bike ?

That looks nice; A hybrid of some of what I consider to be the best bits of the 916 and 999. However, somehow, joined together in this way, these "bits" don't look as good as in their original bikes. I still think it looks very nice; just that aesthetically I'd still rather a 916 or 999.

I really don't get why people are so harsh on the looks of the 749 and 999. It's no MV F4 and I think the 916 is certainly a different style (although I like them both the same). However, the 999 and 749 are still stunning bits of metal. In red of course; don't much like the yellow and given my fondness for black bikes, don't like the "Dark" much, although the The Matrix Ltd. edition of the 999 in greeny-black looks nice.

Yep. Remember what they came up with for the K5 GSX-R1000? It was completely wrong.

Fizz...A good point, why not draw from the Moto GP look? However even I am forced to admit that despite it's stunning livery....the Ducati GP6 is not the prettiest out there. But then again does it need to be,for it to be the inspiration for the next something special from Ducati?

Found a picture of Christian Pfeiffer's stunt F800, now if only BMW would actually sell this version I would definitely buy it (though thinking about it, it wouldn't take too much effort to actually change it as apparently it hasn't been modified much other slightly shorter gearing and a few cosmetic changes):

That is certainly an impressive bit of kit isn't it? Greg does a Boxer Cup Replica not come close enough to the mark for you?

Two entirely different bikes Peter, this uses a BMW badged Rotrax parallel twin, conventional suspension and is pretty cheap by BMW standards. It's also relatively light, and looks very comfortable.

A worthy successor to the SV? Quite possibly, and I'm serious about that.
