I used to until the blood pressure doc (at the blood bank) told me I was causing myself too much trouble. I'm terrified of needles and could eat for abput a day before giving, got so worked up that my blood pressure went thorugh the roof - hence they checked it before each time I gave. Still did it for a number of years though before they told me not too.

I'm not allowed. I did try honest my wife was there giving blood too. I filled in the form, sat and waited, went through to be interviewed and then when she *****ed my finger she asked why I hadn't given blood before thing took a turn for the worse.

Next thing I know I was fighting in WW2 when a bunch of gay Germans captured me and to me to a POW camp. After trying to escape the gards held me down and started unzipping their pants. I awoke shouting "UHHH GET THE FU*K OFF ME" much to the amusement of the 50 people waiting to give blood not to my wife's amusement I must add. They told me not to go back. I didn't argue.

Moral of the story. Never play Battlefield 1942 for 3 hours straight before going to give blood

i have in the past but for the last couple of years keep getting tattoos so not allowed. i feel guilty for this sometimes..... i could save a life but chose to have ink done, so instead carry a 'full' donor card.

And there's another topic- who's on the register? I signed up when i got my license, I hate to admit the only reason I hadn't before was utter laziness.

Anyone else think it should be opt-out rather than opt-in? Maybe with a veto from immediate family in the case you've not registered? Seems to me that a lot of people would allow it if they could just be bothered, but never really gave it much thought- but that anyone who didn't want their organs reused would care enough to register...

Mind you, I can't imagine there'd be a queue to get any of my bits

Been donating since I was 18, I even managed to get my silver certificate (25 donations) just over a year ago
The way I see it, I'll do what I can to help others out by donating... but I only hope I'm not in a position to have to make a withdrawal any time soon

ok I did it once, but nearly passed out and it ended up takin about 3 hours, since then it appears to have turned into some kind of mild phobia. I do carry a donor card!!

Last time I offered they suggested I take up weight lifting..... and thought I could probably benefit from the service not donate.....seriously. Too scared to go back now and that was 15 years ago!
