Looks like the pass light too.

From the wiring diagram, the orange wire comes from fuse 4, then splits. It goes to the light switch, pass switch, and ignition. The lights (pass/side lights) do not go through the ignition and are independant of it.

You shouldn't need to bypass the lighting part of it, and adding a resistor shouldn't affect this part of the circuit.

The red comes from fuse 5, and goes to an unknown "black box" for the dash display. What happens inside this box isn't shown on the wiring diagram, but it deals with all the dash lights etc. This same red wire (from the fuse) also runs to the main fuse. You'll be getting power down this if you're getting it turning over.

The orange/red only goes from the ignition barrel to the "Ignitor."

Black/white is ground for most of the bike (lights are switched earth by the ignition - circuit is only complete when ignition is on). Personally, I assume all black/white wires on the SV to be earth (but double check on the diagram anyway).

The Grey goes from ignition to light switch to dash panel back lighting, then grounds. Nothing interesting on this one.

The Brown goes to "position light" which I take to be Parking light, and tail light.

From what I can see, join the Orange to the Black/White with the right resistance, and you should be in business.

Yes, I'm bored in the office.

Well just need to get the right resistor at 4-6k ohms from maplins or somewhere then.

Glad your bored for me, as I'm to busy to look at it.

Looks like a 6 ohm resistor might be a bit troublesome to find...

you can add them up to make 6 ohm....

its true you know!

I imagine you're looking for a 6000ohm (6k) resistor they should be dead easy to get from Maplin. If however you really really do need a 6 ohm one, then a loudspeaker should do the trick. Should go "click" too when you press your remote starter and sound even more special.

As for not starting in gear, surely if you leave it in gear leaning up against a suitable thing, you can remotely start it then jump on as it goes by. If you add some wizardry to the 6 ohm speaker it can make horse clip-clop noises and you can make out you're a cowboy. Will look very fancy indeed.

All you need to do now is get the remote starter to kick in when you whistle and you will be in propper lone-ranger territory.

I've just found another post on the same forum, that states he following (in contrary to the previous post I found):
Quote:
I have no ignition switch, instead it's all wired via the kill switch. I've got a 12v signal wire via a 100 Ohm resister back to the ECU (operated via a relay) to trick it.
I think it'll be best to get the DMM out, and hook it up to the orange & black/white wires personally, before you buy the wrong thing.

Yep... that does indeed look the case, thanks for the time.

Looks like its going to be sunny today, and I'm at work, with this being the nicest day all week. So I don't see this getting done soon.

Okay, I asked my mate... adapted from the bandit6 version here's what he says to do....

I'm quoting his email to me.....

"Red should be switched to Orange for +ve supply to everything.
Orange/Red should have a 100 ohm resistor to Black and White or any earth.
Grey should be linked to Brown or your lights wont work."

That's from him looking at the SV wiring diags rather than tried&tested on the bike method.
