Osram NightBreaker from http://www.powerbulbs.com/ they are the best (and cheaper) alternative to fitting HID.

via a heads up display?
even if it is a lot brighter.. wouldn't that mean not staring at the road as you drive along in the dark.... ? Or staring where the road would be, but not actually at it. I'm probably completely misunderstanding the concept, but it doesn't seem like the best of ideas |

The HUD display type ones are incredibly cool, if I had a big lump of money sat somewhere I'd be tempted to build one to project onto your visor
