I have no sympathy for her, I made my feelings felt over dinner, much to my girlfriends disgust, and pointed out it was illegal at the time, its the 'done thing' though and 'common practice' so who is she to question it when her superiors instruct her to do so. She is a tiny person within a massive machine and she doesnt know any better, when 'the law' is telling to do something you (she) assumes its correct and OK to do so.

Meh, well collaborator or whistle blower, her choice then. Just so long as she's aware that *SHE* is breaking the law, forget about those ordering her to do so, by complying, *SHE* is just as guilty as her superiors and just as guilty of this illegal and immoral crime.

first off you missed the point, I can bet all my lifes earnings if i beat the sh*t out of a black guy and a white guy one after the other. It would go down as a race crime on the black guy, even though i would have done it because he was a tw*t an no other reason. However if i got beaten by a load of black guys its "just" GBH!!
And it dos happen to think otherwise is nieve.

And secondly i can well believe the police thing. They have quotas to meet on religion ans ethnicity. Did you not heare of the severe bolocking Avon and sommerset got a couple of years ago as the done exactly that, binned all straight white male applications!! FACT!!!

It f**ks me off as they set thes quotas but you cant make people join, it just so happens more white males want to join than anyother percentage of the population and for that they are discriminated against.

My Mrs Nick in Twowbridge is full of dolly bird coppers who couldent beat an egg let alone arrest a big bloke on their own, yet cos wiltshire needed X ammount of females they are in. Its positive descrimination and it should be based on the best person for the job.

I has a mate who applied for the met and pretended he was gay to get in as he knew being straight and white was a guaranteed no no.

If i ever applied for the police i would say i am a gay muslim to get in!!

As you can tell this sh*t f**ks me off no end

Its not just race, gender or sexual orientation. It can also be medical i.e. epilepsy and also religion. It's a shame but the western world is too busy with not offending minorities. As nowadays we are all statistics, if you are the majority you miss out and if the you are the minority you get extra.

It's undeniably a widely held view you have there, but I'd argue it's incorrect. Nearly half of all the racially motivated murders in the decade '95-'04 had white victims.

I did hear about it, they got done a few months before Gloucestershire got done for the exact same thing. The law on this was perfectly clarified by these cases two years back if it's still going on then the people ordering discrimination have no excuse of ignorance and the people being ordered to break the law have a legal and moral duty to inform the authorities (I recognise that "the authorities" here are the ones breaking the law, so I'd personally suggest senior officers or the press). It's all very well complaining about inequality but if all everyone is going to do is whine about it then it achieves nothing; here we have an example of someone in the inside complaining about the situation, who is perfectly placed, more so than you or I, to actually do something about it, but who chooses not to. In my mind it's as bad as complaining about high crime rates and then handing a hoody a brick next time you see him trying to break into a car.

Let's get real about this.

Assuming what is being reported is correct, who in their right mind is going to be a whistle-blower in the Police force? This girl probably wants to be able to keep a job for the rest of her life. What would be the chances of that if she blew the whistle? Pat on the head and thankyou very much for that, have a promotion and a wage rise? I don't think so.

She'd probably be ostracised within the job, life made a misery, and effectively hounded out. How would the CV look with "whistle-blower" as the reason for leaving the last job? You only have to look to Westminster to see that there's scams and fiddles all the way up, so no-one is going to want someone with a track record of a conscience and moral fibre. Blind-eyes are better qualifications. Don't mess with the old boys' network and funny handshake brigades. Don't forget that if this is actually happening, it's in order that the force can meet the targets set by the government. Whose side do you think they will be on?

It's comparable to getting bricks through your windows and your car set on fire for grassing up the local crims. I like my windows thanks.

It's not right, it's real. Whoever said the world was fair?

Cynical, me? Damn right.

I agree lots with the points made above- you can't seriously expect her to do anything about it.

Ok, my final point then. If all people are going to do is whine and complain about the wrongs in soceity but not actually step up to the plate and do something about it, then we deserve everything we get. How do you think the same crimes committed by Avon & Somerset and Gloucestershire forces both came to light and were admitted in the face of overwhelming evidence - where do you think that evidence came from if not from whistleblowers witnessing a crime and having the balls to stick their own neck out and actually do something about it rather than just bleat on about the injustice of it all?

I have to agree with Matt here. If nobody says anything, the crime will perpetuate. My friend (male white) is applying to the police. he is a really nice guy, and that girl is preventing him from getting a job! A quick anonymous call to the press will not get you in trouble, once they have a lead they can investigate on their own from their on. All it takes is a public outcry which is what would happen if this thread went fully public!

It is fully public, any one of us/you is free to contact the press or anyone else if you wish. Well?

Oh yes, and we have authorities to do something about crimes being committed, one of which is called the Police. "Physician heal thyself".
