Faster than cars, not bothered about fuel.
Not used to commute.. I bought the bike to have fun.... not conserve fuel. Last edited by BanannaMan; 30-09-08 at 01:16 AM. |

You take it slow and easy to make it last as long as possible.
But then at some point you know you're about done anyway. So you just hang on tight and go as fast as you can until you empty out. Um, wait.... ![]() Oh! Riding a m o t o r c y c l e ! I was gonna say, I once tried it 'side-saddle' once and nearly snapped off The General at half-mast! |

Daily commute = motorway cruise at 70/80mph to reduce fuel costs.
Weekend hooning = as fast as the road will let me. |

I go generally faster than cars, not bothered by fuel. Usually get around 60 mpg though.

Previously generally faster than cars, occasionally too fast.
I would go to say that bikes with Clip ons encourage me to go fast, because going slow on one isnt comfortable. The wind pocket lifts you at speed giving minimal ache through the wrists This is why my next bike will be much more upright. I would go as far as a Triumph Scrambler but for the distances I like to travel im not sure its feasible. |

CBR: Don't ride 'fast' (as in hugely over the limit) but I don't care about fuel - it's always full throttle-brake-full throttle-brake etc. I commute through London so I always go at a decent pace off the line, etc to get to the next traffic light before it goes red
![]() GSX-R: Don't take it out other than for fun rides so in general it's as fast as it'll let me, not on straights so much because of the possible consequences of maxing it out (from the law I mean). But again don't care about fuel here either - sometimes I actually get better mpg than the CBR, because I'm travelling at higher speed and it's not stop/start etc. But I've also had about 69 miles till the light started flashing ![]() |
