I suppose practice does make perfect - so will need to be finding me many a corner to practice.
The best advice I can offer is this:
- If you don't know if you're going slow enough, slow down. Better to crawl around a corner upright than it is to hit something that you can't see when you enter the corner.
- Related to the above, but deserving of it's own point... In like a pussy cat, out like a tiger. Once you see the corner opening up, do the same with the throttle.

Other than that, read the advice of others in this thread. Especially Fizz. Top advice that is.

I only touch the clutch on a corner if I'm coming out of a junction from stationary or panic on a corner (done it once, last time I was out infact - and I almost went into a hedge)

feathering the clutch together with engine speed to adjust speed.
lightly squeeze.
i was informed by my instructor "not to be scared of using the clutch" while cornering.

ahh that could work thought you meant dump it. Would you only use that if the throttle is likely to jerk when twisted?

Ah right OK.

I've heard of people feathering the clutch, but its not something I do, I prefer the throttle off, drag back brake approach.

You're confusing me now fizz lol which is safest to do first to shed some speed. Brake or throttle off? Or does it depend?

Safest way it to get your corner entry speed correct and then you dont have to feck about scrubbing speed off mid corner when you should be thinking about where and when to begin opening the throttle.

Safest is hard to quantify. I personally prefer throttling off and then if that doesnt work, scrub some speed with the rear brake.

You need to pick one technique and practice it till you have it mastered and then pick the next technique and practice that.

I'm not an instructor, or IAM qualified or anything like that, so dont take what I say as gospel truth, just practice the basics and work out what works best for you as we all ride in a different way.

Cheers fizz. I'll continue with lean more, throttle off, then brake...that's my current approach if I'm focussed.
