About these guys, I've not much sympathy to be honest. If you want to do warp 10 then go find a twisty road that's quiet. Doing a million mph on a supersport is the bad stereotype, it's not good for the rest of us, nor is 150mph particularly difficult... If it was 170 I might be impressed.

My thoughts go to the other poor buggers involved and the riders families, must be rather disturbing for them.
Be prepared to bow down. 170 was seen on the video.

Sad story, but total nutters riding the way/speeds they did.

Although the indicated speed was 170 the police actually calculated 156mph as the actual speed. Speedo error and all that, apparently they analysed the speedo sensor of the camera bike after the crash.

Actually the news stories state 170 on the clock, but clocked earlier in the ride at 154.

Yes but to a degree. My safety is more important than worrying if overtaking somoneone who just doesnt look in their mirrors at all is going to scare them a bit. They need to wake up and be aware of their surroundings. Anyone who feels they have to pull over at the sid of the road cos they got scared is, imho, not safe to be on the road in the first place. They are the panic-ers who cause accidents that may be avided by someone a little more switched on.

As Soha says tbh, i'm always checking my mirrors.

Sometimes when i check my mirrors, nothing is there except an empty road behind me, then 5 seconds later, I have some sunday-only power ranger blast past on one of his 3 rides of the year

True, this happens to all of us from time to time. But do you need to pull over cos you're that traumatised by it? Most people wouldn't and the pint i made was the person who wrote in was either highly strung and would run if a goose said boo to him/her or was just over egging the point to make it sound so much worse that it really is. Someone whiziing past me makes me think "wow didn;t see that coming" and then i carry on about my business.

Anyway, i dont wanna sidetrack the thread, its a tragic loss of life and condolences to the family the guy left behind.

One more idiot, of the type who are going to end up getting draconian power restrictions imposed on all motorcycles, off the road.

The speedos may overead but thats irrelevant, he thought he was doing 170mph on a public road and his mate was proudly filming it.

Feel really sorry for his family. One of the emotions you go through with grief is anger, I wouldn't be surprised, just as with a suicide, that anger features more in this families grief than most deaths. The guy gave no thought to his family whatsoever when he took a bike to 170mph on a public road. At least when somebody leaves thier family behind through suicide they don't it in sound mind, they do it because they are so desperate can see no other way. This guy just didn't give a **** what the concequenses were for his family.

Feel really sorry for the third parties involved in the accident too, having somebody slam into the front of your vehicle and get decapitated is something they will live with and dream about at night for the rest of their lives.

His mate who was doing the filming will live with it forever too, but at least he was party to the stupidity in the first place.

Sorry to rant. I'm a big softie when it comes to my wife and kid and this makes me think about them and makes me angry, and I really feel for the guys in the camper van too. I really have no time at all for 170mph sportsbike heroes, guys like that really get my back up. You hear them boasting about it at bike meets and you feel like walking over and telling them what ******s they are. Yeah, I have my silly moments, but 170mph ??
