A mate of mine used to have a scanner in his wagon which could pick up the airplane and the old police frequencies.... When we were doing a convoy run to the same depot down south, he used to tell everybody on the CB where the coppers were hiding, so we eased off the gas as places where we knew the coppers would be hiding....... I believe they've changed over to digital frequencies now, to stop us naughty boys from being aware where they're lying in wait to do a VOSA stop check...

By the way, the CB market is still alive and well, go to any decent truckstop, and the choice of mikes, CB's, SWR meters, mounts, and ariels will make you very confused.

My magmount (6") and a 6' bullwhip ariel used to get people as far as 10 miles.... it still does coupled to an uprated Midland (upgraded the internals for better signal) CB radio...... Just going to waste now lying on my garage shelf..... Stay off channel 19 - full of wee ******s talking s***e, and treating it as a channel for playing rave music now....

Ah memories, but us truckers never forget the language... still use it in trucks which still have them fitted. Very handy in quarries when you're lost trying to find the correct graded sand or gravel, and getting the attention of the big wheel (digger driver.....)

To hell with the CB licence - they're not needed. Any time I've been stopped by VOSA or the cops, they haven't bothered to ask for the CB licence.
Yeah, 1-9 for a 10-13 please , northbound on the mike 6, just on the ski jump, come back ? happy days

I think there is now no need for a license and you can pick them up very cheaply especially on eBay.
