What I meant was that it's *identical* to how the NC's do it, drop the rad slightly, stick a scoop over the top of it into the airbox, except they started back in the early 90's...

Difference is that HRC did it with the VFR/RVF's so everyone would have known about it and the SV being a similar enough layout for some bright spark to think "Hmmm, maybe that might just work".

As featured on the RVF400, not the the VFR400. They also featured on the Kawasaki ZXR750 (pre-ZX7R) and ZXR400, although technically on all three bikes they did not offer what the manufacturers published and thus were pretty much redundant (only kept to cover the unsightly holes they left).

No. Whilst I admit I have spent a crazy fortune building my bike, this I would regard as a waste of money.

Aye, impressive but pointless. Hence why it was scrapped.

You're thinking of the original as supplied, I'm talking about the race kit, which was certainly for the VFR from '92 and as shown here, it is as I said though not ram air but cool air.

You're right though the RVF air tubes do fsck all, no noticeable difference without them and at most they only give a trickle of air down the front of the tank, they could be made to at least do something with a large hammer though.

From memory the ZXR400 tubes did even less than the RVF ones.

In that case then, I apologise as I thought you were on about standard bikes.

Aye, ZXR ones are completely and utterly pointless.

Does look nice though

Strikes me as a Ducati copy, right idea (the bigger the air box the better) but as I understand things its not as simple as just adding BFO airbox, do it wrong and you lose power rather than gain it (or gain some at the top end with the loss of the bottom end) and it all gets very tricky.

I know when people have gone to a full working ram air setup on the RVF's it's been a bitch to setup properly.

I think I'll stick to the OEM airbox with the BMC air filter and just try and duct some cool air towards the inlet.
