Yea, do it Ed.

In 37 days it'll be 10 years since I pack in the evil Habbit.

Good luck

You could get pregnant - that seems to turn you right off the ciggies. And think of the money you'd make selling the story and the pictures.

Having watched both my parents smoke, and seeing my dad coughing his guts out first thing in the morning, made it easy for me not to even start.

Which is the eaisiest way to give up I guess.

Although I've probably been a passive smoker for about 21 of my 48 years

I still come into regular contact with chain smoking foreigners which doesn't do anything for my health

I was telling ED about my mum, who gave up for years, but now smokes again and is out of breath even sitting down or eating! I hate it, but she won't listen.

I gave up years ago and don't even fancy one now - the habit is disgusting and much less socially acceptable than it used to be...

Rushing off to the hospital to visit my father in law after his heart attack at 56 was very scary. Had an ambulance not been driving past his office when the 999 came in he would not have survived it. He smoked 20 - 40 a day for years and gave up after that. At 65 he is in much better shape these days. My mum also gave up when her first grandchild was born 7 years ago.

If it helps, set aside the cash you would have spent in cigarettes and then buy yourself something special in a few months. When my husband quit he stuck a fiver in a jar every time he woukld have bought a pack and at the end of the year bought a massive subwoofer and a new CD player. Not everyone's idea of fun but it makes him happy.

I do a packet a week so it's about Ģ5.80. But you can use so many justifications to continue with cigarettes - 'it's only Ģ6/week' is too easy, I know. Just finding it really hard to make that last hurdle.

Ed, honestly take a look at the easy way by Allan Carr, I know it doesnt sound plausable that it could help but honestly itīs an amazingly well written book that makes you change your thinking towards the habit.
