Just a thought, but is it really a surpirse that there isn't much difference between the main parties? We have a long established democracy, it would be a bit strange if we were still lunging from one political ideoligy to another... I'm leaning towards Labour at the moment, I think GB gets a hard time from the media and others because he's not Tony Blair.

I'm amazed and confused by the amount of people I'm coming across who seem to be adotping the "X-factor" way of voting. "Well he looks nice, wears a nice suit, I like his accent, AAAAWWW he's just a had a baby in time for the election, I bet he can sing too. Does he have a sob story?".

The one thing I really don't like is how Labour use the union to try and muster support. I have had three letters in three months, telling me how marvellous a party they are, and how me voting for them would be a good decision to make, all from the union.

Well quite frankly I don't need any extra paper shoved through my door encouraging me to vote. If anything it puts me off voting for Labour...not that I am saying I would BTW.
That gave me a good chuckle! The Labour party are relatively young, and came from the Unions and other socialist groups. Never noticed the similar basic ideology? Labour can't force/use the Unions to do anything. The Unions are Labour party supporters, not the other way round. That's why they're sending you letters. Perhaps you should be directing you anger at your union for spending your contributions on party politics.
In contrast the Torries came from the landowners and money in society. The torries can trace thier roots back to a time when only men with money COULD vote.

Well if no one likes the two main parties then why not give the Lib Dems a go? Can't be any worse than it is now

Pains me to say it but I think Vince Cable of the Lib Dems is far and away the best prospect for serious economic reform in this country. He is so much more of a political heavywieght than any of the competition, but sad to say he has no chance of putting his talents to use unless he changes party.
