I'd fallen into the trap of "Somethings wrong with teh bike and I dont know what it is, therefore it must be the aspect I know nothing about" [Fuel Injection] I therefore proceeded to spend a few hours trawling through the Haynes and google to try and give myself something to go on. Not 10mins before YC called up I'd decided the only clue I had was the deposits on the plug so started reading into those. Took YC 5mins worth of talk time to narrow it down to the 10inch between Coil connectors and Spark Plug.

Still lesson learnt - Fuel, Compression, Spark - The order of investigation

HT Coil Pack for the rear cylinder had gone Kaput. Totally over looked it
Completely kaput or just intermittent?

I would have suggested a coil, but you said it was firing on both cylinders.

There was a faulty batch of coils on K6 bikes, but most of them went pop in the first year.

If it sounds like the last time you went go-karting, it's firing on one cylinder. If your still not sure, or not sure which cylinder, start from cold, one hand on each exhaust downpipe, one will get hot a lot quicker than the other.

I would say very frikken hot very quickly. Rather than say touch, I'd prefer to keep the skin on my hands the way they are now and would say 'near' instead.

To be fair YC said to Gob on it but there was no point, the tank etc was already up so I just pulled the plug out and it made no difference.

That's more like the technical statement one would expect from YC.

It did say 'start from cold', so quite safe.

On my bike you had about 5 or 6 seconds before they hit the temperature of a hot domestic radiator and you had to let go.

1 and 2 and 3

and 4 and 5....

you see, it's quite a long time when your expecting it to get hot and are ready to let go.
