Where did you get them for that price? That's a crazy price for a pair of tyres!

You can't use a large bikes full potential on the road (in fact you can't use a large bikes full potential on most tracks), so I wouldn't have hesitated using them.
Fast Bikes May edition has an article on the new tyre from Maxxis.
Here is a clip of what the tester said. He was riding the new Kawasaki Z1000s

"Whether or not they’re just a gimmick, you’ll discover in issue 248, but for the time being all I’ll say is that I spent a full day ragging around Portimao (a tough circuit for any tyre), digging pegs into the abrasive surface on a variety of bikes, and generally riding like a loon once I’d acclimatised to their unique approach and feel, and I’m still standing. It’s also worth pointing out these are sports-touring tyres, designed for mileage, too.
We also got the opportunity to give them a thrash on the roads; some dusty, some covered in gravel, and again I live to tell the tale with absolutely no sign of any of the issues that have plagued the brand in the past."

No, but the last 3 pages of guff have been about how good the £100 Budget tyres is.

The point is: Yes, they may be rebranded to make them sound cool. Yes they are inexpensive. Yes they are fine in most weather & yes they tend to last quite well.
If you have never tried them, don't slate them.

What was the line from Bob Dylan?

£180 for a pair of tyres is still good, i used to pay £210 a pair on my Kwak ZZR and they were Bridgestones which were uninspiring in the wet

Going to try them on mine, local shop charging £180 ride in fitted and balanced for the pair, a couple of local shops want £225+ for a pair and that was only fitted to the wheels not the bike! maxxis have been around for ages in the moto x world and a lot of riders swear by them.
I only really need a front but a bridgestone fitted is around £140-150 so thought i'd try them (they look cool and got a load of good write-ups)

Any news on the DIAMONDs - just noticed an advert in BIKE mag.
Where is your local supplier as I go to Eastleigh but not overly impressed.
Cris.
