I would say that your mate was lucky, been stopped with some people i know all of us on bikes and a friends friend booted it when the blues came on and the cop didnt even bother with us, he just booted after him. caught him and he had no insurance.

Well having paid my fine over the phone i've just received my licence back in the post? Why?
Came with a cover letter stating that the points had been put on and i would find enclosed my licence. My only thought as to why i would of received it back is if my CBT counted as my first test as i took it on my 16th birthday (now 19) so my two years would be up. Otherwise why have i got it back? Have had no contact from the DVLA or anyone else as to tell me i can't drive. |

You would receive the license back. You still have a driving license, but what entitlements do you still have on it?
EDIT: Maybe that's wrong. Read this link that was posted earlier http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...ers/DG_4022566 Last edited by -Ralph-; 03-02-12 at 04:49 PM. |

do they actually take the licence off you? or is it just recorded on the computer that you are banned?

You are asking the wrong people TBH. Phone DVLA.

Well the link says you need to re-apply for provisional so why would they send my back my full licence? It still has all my entitlements on it.
I paid my fine on monday and got it back on thursday, surely this would of been enough time for the DVLA to have it pop up on the computer and for them to send me a letter to let me know if i was to have it revoked? |

+1, if you HAVE been banned then even though you have your licence you would be breaking the law.
i.e. you have nothing to lose except your ignorance of the status of your licence.

I don't want to phone them really in case they have over looked it and then tell me im having it revoked. But this my be wishful thinking :/
Who have greater authority? The Courts or the DVLA? Last edited by Webber; 03-02-12 at 04:57 PM. |

As much as I'd love to help you with it, I can't, and probably neither can anyone on this thread unless they work for the DVLA or they've been through the process themselves.
I can only read what Direct.gov says, and you can do that yourself. |
