I'm pretty sure I'd read much less than that, something like 2.62 seconds? Still, you're right, not much slower than a zx6 up to the ton.

As ive said before I used to own a ZX6R (600 not 636) before the SV and basically for what i need, the SV is the better bet. Im a fairly competent rider, but not a good one. (been riding for eight years)
A lot of people on the supersports could not get their knee down on a SV let alone 'Ninja nutter bstards' et al.
They certainly would not notice any massive difference in the handling, brake departments beyond what they read in Performance bike magazine and the like. But hey, the guys welcome to his opinion (However misguided he may be!)

its only when you are really upping the speeds, 100mph+, where the supersports bikes come into there own, as they were designed to handle at these speeds, where the sv would get a bit out of shape. you can only ask so much of a budget bike, specially without much of adjustments in the suspension area

over 100mph is a different matter, the 600's do fly just when the SV is running out of steam (unless you are a thou rider in which case the 600's are slow and wheezy!). But looking at the mini-twin lap times, there's no way I'd match a well riden track SV on my GSXR, and mods are limited with mini-twins. I think SV's just push different buttons to the 600 Supersports.

Fine, but if we didnt make it known that we were not happy with T*ssers like him, we would be stuck with this Labour government for years.
But, i digress!

Riding an SV and a modern 600 SuperSport are so far apart in many ways.

The 600 will want to be kept on the gas, the SV has got that traditional "lazy" V twin thing...

Out of the box the 600 will handle and stop better and turn quicker, but you can modify and tweak an SV to make it better.

The 600 will leave the SV behind when accelerating from over about 70, but the SV's torque finds the power quicker out of the bends (you have to concentrate harder on keeping the revs up on the 600 to match the SV)

The 600 will generally have better quality components where the SV is sometimes a bit lacking.

They both sound good, just different. I've had both and although I prefer my GSXR 600 to my old SV, the SV has it's place and it does a great job of filling that space. How many new Fasers have NOT been sold ?? And what's the chances that those potential buyers have ended up with the SV ?

I just found that I was starting to thrash my SV everywhere I took it, in almost every gear so decided to try something bigger (a Falco). After a while I got fed up of the Falco letting me down and invested in a new GSXR, which I still love to bits.

True what somebody said, different bikes push different buttons. At the moment I like my IL4 button being played with

.
