Glad you're ok, could have been worse.

re: the helmet. Bike mag (or was it Ride?) proved that you can drop your helmet from waist height and no damage would be caused.

try checking for CCTV as TSM suggested but in reality dont hold any hope to it...

there was CCTV in commercial street but missed the entirety of my accident and ensuing punch up cos ALL the cameras were pointing the wrong way

Me and spidy were going up to the Ace a few weeks ago and a guy decided to jump the lights a tad late and did not see a cyclst coming the other way and bumped him right off. Lucky for him the old church on the corner had CCTV (we did not even notice as they were so small and high up), it was a recording studio and when we were waiting for the police the guy came from inside and said that he saw it happen and if he wanted a copy of the tape.

Sometimes you are luckey and other times not.

Simon!

I've just read this... shocking!

I don't know if it's already been mentioned, but at the very least, report it to the police, as she's left the scene of what could've been a very nasty accident. I don't suppose you, or anyone else, got her number plate?

Insist the police check the CCTV coverage of the area... they might even have captured the incident!

Glad you're alright!

If the police refuse to investigate you can always complain. If I
were in your situation I would write a letter to the Sun newspaper.
In a run-up to a General Election newspapers are keen to publicise all
sorts of scandalous cases involving government agencies.

Don't forget to ask about the CCTV and push the cops more, after all if she didn't see a big bloke like you. What will happen went there is a child standing near one of her wide turns.

Glad your OK...

Agreed, stress that you happening to wear your leathers/her hitting the tankbag were the only thing that stopped it being a lot more serious.

Ride mag did a test on dropped helmets - dropping then from up to 30 feet - and found it had no effect on their protective qualities The conclusion was that as long as your head isn't in the helmet at the time of impact then the essential compressing ability of the helmet isn't compromised.

If youre still not sure then i know that Arai test their helmets for free - some of the others probably do the same.
