Many people would consider speeding wrong as well.
I'm not helping for a variety of reasons, not least of which is that I have no expertise to offer.
Needless to say, if I am caught speeding, I will try to find a way out of the punishment. It's one thing to take it on the chin and not whine when you have no choice, but if I can get out of it then I will.
Getting out of a speeding ticket (a normal one, not involving a police chase) is no different to slowing down just before you get to the camera then speeding up again afterwards..

I think you should just take it on the chin mate, no point going to court and trying to get off IMHO they'll just chuck the book at you. I know you dont want to loose your license I wouldnt either I do sympathise with you.

Hope it goes OK and as somebody else said, may your fine be small and your ban short

good luck

I think we have someone who has fallen hook line and sinker for the "speed kills message".

Look GYKD is a knob, his observation was ****e and he may well be banned but, he the evidence against him for speeding was gathered by using a device outside its approved range. at an acut angle and against the rear of a motorcycle with a flat target area of 9 x 7 inched assuming he has a legal plate. Given a range of over a thousand feet the accuracy of the measuring policemans aim is better than a marksman with a scope fitted rifle would expect to achieve.

For this he faces losing his job, home and future. Who did he endanger? No one. There was no kid in the road, there was no accident, there was no near miss. indeed when conditions dictated he slowed down.

The police chose to use the device incorrectly. It is GYKD's choice to see if he can exploit that.

If you have never broken the limit keep up your moral position, but if you do break the speed limit, by 10% + 2 from time to time you are 4 rides away from looking for a loophole yourself.

I agreed with you up untill this point. What was this hyperthetical kid doing in the middle of the road?
Who cares. My point is made.

We make our choice, we speed or we dont. We get caught from time to time. Very few of us run from the police. Helping him try to get out of a ban on a "technicality" is wrong when he has openly admitted his guilt.
I cares tbh and i dont see you having made any point futher than the govt do. Thats is that "speed kills".
Well i for one dont think it does and i toatly disagree with "if he'd hit a child..." etc. If he was speeding in a built up area then he's a pr@t. if someome lets thier child play on a major road then they are the pr@t imo.

I just happened to come across that bit of info this morning and thought it may help him decide what he will do from here.

I got banned 10yrs ago for 6months cos the cops couldnt catch the fella they were chasing so made out they had been after me for jumpind a red light. Fact was i had looked in my mirror before attempting to stop for the lights and saw a massive silver beemer headed at me like i didnt exist...so i carried on thru the amber light.
Now that is all correct and allowed under the relevant Road traffic acts etc but the coppers were emarrased and needed to justify the "chase" and blues and two's. I pull over to get out their way and end up getting accused of something i didnt do.

The cop was even happy to perjur (sp?) himslef on the stand when asked about the silver BMW. He happily sat there and said there was no silver BMW and that i ws making it all up

Hence another 3 ponts that took me ober the 12 points and got me banned.

If GYKD posts abuot another speeding offence maybe i'll think twice about offering any advice but i just think the topping up system that leads to bans is a bad one and there are plenty of others out there who should not be on the road either....but because they sail over minin-roundabouts and thru pedestrians crossings and traffic lights at a constant 29mph (regardless of the raod conditions about them) they stay under the "detection meter" and are ignored by the traffic cops cos they "look safe enough". Till they drive into a biker, take his foot of with their grill in the impact and then drive away from the scene.

I sometimes prefer the company of speeders as opposed to those who dawdle about at 5mph below the limits. Know why...thye speeders usualy pay more attention as they are driving at speed and their senses are hightened because of it. *

BMW & Merc drivers on phones on M'ways are not included of course.

What ive been trying to say since i first posted about me getting caught again... but worded much better by yourself. The ENTIRE reason i ride fast, is cos it keeps me alert! If i ride at 60, im DANGEROUS as i fall asleep - my mind drifts and i lose concentration. At 90-100, im in my "comfort zone" and spot dangerous situations... the reason i didnt see the cops this time is cos they were hidden from everyones view.

i had the dubious pleasure of the company of 2 bike cops the other week on my comute to work. Sections of road that follow a dual carriageway but have 30mph limits. 3 lanes. Me in middle lane with a bikecop in the lanes to either side of me.

The pack of traffic behind was staying well back and probably thought...."****...the cops are serios about crime now, they got Spiderman riding out with em!"

Point being tho.... i had to work hard at doing 30mph along roads i would normally be fine doing 40/50mph. An it seemed SO SLOW , like i was doing 10mph or something. Very odd sensation i must say.

That post makes me less inclined to believe you're safe on the road, but that's mostly a feeling.
If you really are such an adrenylin junkie that you can't concentrate unless you're forced to, then I have to be honest, I believe it's better that you won't be on the road for a while.
