this is actually a topic that i have had experience in in many ways, i will freely admit that i used to smoke weed, and in my past i used to smoke a hell of a lot!! i got to one stage when i was very dependent on it, not because i was addicted but because last year i fell ill with cancer, and i was having a very hard time during this, i was getting very worked up and depressed, and anxious, on top of which i was allergic to two of the drugs in the chemo cocktail!! and i managed to find out that smoking calmed me down and i was not feeling as anxious b4 and during the treatment(s), at which point i smoked a lot of green because of this, if it was a way to make myself feel slightly better during what was a F***ing **** time i was gonna do it!! and although i am not proud of it now during this time i did smoke and drive, and my views on this topic because of how often i did smoke and drive is: having one of two smokes and driving is not to bad, as it does not impair your reactions or abilities to much and does give you that paranoid edge to make you drive like a old granny, but i will also admit that it is very easy to smoke to much, which in hindsight i have smoked far far far to much and driven and i really regret it, luckily nothing bad happened and i will never been doing it again, mainly because i have quit but still it was very stupid.
but the way i c things as far as other people are concerned is, i would say don't smoke, its not worth it, it kills your brain, and well just generally f***s with your body, and i promise that you would not want cancer, its defo not worth a bit of a laugh for that!!
but if you do insist on smoking dont drive, like i said smoking one or two not to bad, but what if something does happen, not only night some1 get hurt, but also if you are stoned then its not gona be much fun for you, and if the police are involved then you are just gonna get in more s**t!!!

but aslo as some1 said earlier in this post, i would also rather be riding along side some1 who has had a smoke that some stuck up t**t int there range rover sport talking on there phone not giving a care in the world to anything other that the immediate space in front of his/her tank!!!

EDIT: sorry for spelling and grammar!!! i am bogged down at work and had to just blat it out, but really wanted to join in with this thread!!!

also you'd end up stabbed or shot in no time...

just not worth it bro ...

Well glade you did what you felt you had to do and if you are happy with that, that's the most important thing.

Personally I do smoke even if I'm riding. It does make the day go quicker/easier and I'm more chilled . I've never felt it impaired my ability to ride to any significant degree .

Cheers
Ben

Then he saw me looking, looked paniced and drove into the industrial estate which is when i decided there was definately something fishy and followed. He started slowing down and speeding up so i decided that enough was enough and pulled over by a courier company with loads of people about. He stopped in a dead end and turned round, came back asked if i was following him, i said "yes, you were having a spliff" and he drove off. by this time i was on the phone.
I'd have said no and asked why he was so paranoid.

I agree with you, too many people not concentrating on driving for a number of reasons nowadays, although spliffs on a low level aren't as bad as mobile phones and alcohol.

Seriously though, I don't see how there's even an argument that you did the wrong thing. Total rubbish IMO.

Ok, i've got experience with this.

I have driven and smoked, and would not suggest it, nor do i do it anymore.... On long drives to the shows in the summer, i'd have one on the way up. Not anymore.

Its dangerous. It doesn't make you in full control of the car and I would not suggest it to anyone.

But.... I would say it FAR safer than drink driving as your still fully aware of what your doing, and if anything, you drive more sensibly because your concentrating so hard on what your doing it actually makes you more aware. It just slows your reactions though which is what makes it dangerous.

Personnally, i've done it, but wouldn't anymore. But I wouldn't have called the police, thats just going a bit far.... IMO

Edit - I would never dare riding my bike after smoking though. Thats just madness.

Hell, im giving up at New Year anyway.

An old mate of mine has crashed his bike 4 times while stoned. on seperate occasions. It aint clever. He says it makes him a better rider, he also admits it makes him stop at green lights and go on red.

"sometimes, at night the lights kinda blur together"...

Interesting post this one.

Whether it is inherently dangerous depends on the circumstances, but I am certain that drink driving is always far more dangerous.

I think that there are far worse things on the road to worry about than smokers. It is no good having lightning reactions if you are so busy chatting on the phone that you are not concentrating properly.

I have seen the sober v drunk v stoner test and it was scary just how bad the drunk was even when below the limit. The stoner was not bad at all - probably better than a lot of straight people.

I dont think what you did in phoning the Police was wrong, but would you do the same if you saw someone on the phone (which IMHO is worse in the majority of cases).

Also dont forget, it is very difficult for the Police to get a drug drive conviction as there is no definition as to the limit - I wonder why that is?

Im actually VERY suprised at the amount of people who smoke and ride..

As a smoker of 5+ years, i would never ever even think about it. Its just madness in my eyes.

I went for a ride 2 hours after i'd smoked once, it made me feel very un-easy and although it didn't effect my riding, my mind was still slightly clouded. At 2+ hours, the effects have worn off (usually 30-1hr 30). I fealt completly fine hence why i went for a ride.

I really didn't enjoy that ride and came home.

Stoners arn't bad people (unless you just think of a chavvy gold chained rude boy smoking a spliff, that isn't a stoner ). Usually very relaxed, but its a bit concerning you went to so much trouble to "chop him" as it were..... (following, stopping, helmet, gloves off, phone out etc etc.....)...
