You're very lucky you had the new ones, seriously.

???

You suggesting old ones would've bent the frame, not that i'm sure it's straight as it is?

Stu: no legal cover so have to go no win, no fee with White Dalton. Hopefully they will do the business for me.

Old ones might have just broken or torn off. Or, might have done quite well, they didn't always fail- mine always did better than the new-style ones.

That actually might be better. People like Kwak have found legal cover to be v. slow. Maybe they will have more of a vested interest to get you a result when on NWNF.
All the best - hope you're not hurting too much.

Is this some UK thing or did I simply get lucky here in the states. After my spill, took a week for me to get the check for bike's full value. >.<

I take it you were insured fully comprehensive? Fully comp payout in the UK is unlikely to be that fast though some insurers are better than others.

In my case I am only third party, fire and theft covered so I have to claim against the other person involved. My solicitors have to put a case together and present it to the third party's insurer. They then have 3 months to investigate the claim after which they may admit liability in which case I get a payout. If they don't, then it has to go to court which is always a slow process here.
