If I was on a low income (like my pensioner mother) I would view it that way. For lots of folks working part time this is an increase in income tax.

As a relatively high earner, the 2p cut in 'standard' tax saves me £320 but I lose £110 in NI increase. Overall I'm £210 a year better off in my pay packet. So I'm better off but the low paid are worse off? That can't be right and is shocking from a Labour chancellor!

Never have voted Labour, but this lot don't seem to have gripped the Socialist principles.....

I don't think they conform to any group or principles anymore and are just out to grab what they can while they can.

It's New Labour,
Conservatives in disguise.

Nah, New Labour is old Labour in disguise.

There is certainly nothing (traditionally) Tory about the weighty tax burden we currently endure.

I did vote once... but I ended up feeling like I needed a shower or something. Urgh.

I always vote, but I understand why some people don't.At the last election I broke the habit of a lifetime and voted for a party other than Labour.I didn't vote Tory(never sunk that low )but could no longer support the party that had taken us into a disastrous and illegal war.I also think that power corrupts, and no one should be allowed to rule for more than two terms so time for a change?

Don't vote then don't complain (and some would say don't voice an opinion). IMHO voting should be mandatory.
And vote on the policies of the day, not because 'I always vote Labour' etc.

But not voting Tory isn't going to get rid of Labour is it?

Also, the concept of the Iraq war being illegal is hilarious. I don't understand why people keep saying it.
