It really doesn't make a lot of difference on the 'Blade, although I generally do tend to blip it, like I said, it's a habit. When I'm changing down on the track/on the edge, it's normally to help slow me down, I have been known to do 6th to 3rd to get some decent engine braking

I go 3 on it, my grandad taught me to ride with my index finger and thumb always on the throttle. I tend to rev the gears out while braking too

Agreed outside 3 for me 'til I had to give it up in winter for my Vpaw - that was difficult, but soon got used to it.

Outside 2? No way you're totally weird!

Sometimes two, sometimes three

Mostly two now, since i have got more acustomed with the brakes, and also it enables better throttle-blip control when downshifting. By the way, those with slipper-clutches - are oyu still blipping on the downshift, or letting the bike take care of it all?

Strangely, I've gone from blipping to non-blipping as I've got more experienced. I seem to have a better feel for letting the clutch out smoothly than blipping while just letting go of it.

+1. Need to revise that lesson though as I sometimes don't feel that much in control, especially when hard braking to avoided going through someones car.

2 fingers for me. I got told off for it on my IAM test. Personally I think it's safer as you can get fine throttle control and braking and unless your brakes need bleeding or there's something wrong with them, you don't really need 4 fingers on the SV, IMO.

I normally use two fingers. On the odd occasion I use three. Four fingers for me is an impossibility as the tendons in my little finger snapped and I have a permanently curved little finger. Took me a little while to learn how to type again.
