Anyone know what the best price (group buy?) for braided lines with ss fittings is? It makes no sense to upgrade the calipers unless you have already done the hoses, and my bike is so far bog standard.

I'm guessing that this project would cost me £50 calipers, £65 adapter, £65 braided lines with ss fittings, £5 brake fluid. Plus would probably need new pads too. Not sure She Who Must Be Obeyed is going to understand the benefits of spending getting on for £200 on front brakes when as far as she is concerned I already have em!

Do fancy it tho, but after a track day at Snetterton last week I left thinking POWER is what I need most. Maybe the money would be better going towards a TL or IL4? They would come with free great brakes included!

leesvee, it's going to happen...very soon.

I've got another project which should be finished and revealed next week. Sort of concentrating on getting that out of the way.

Arriving late as usual Yep, no benefit to the 6-pots IMO, I tried the 6-pots off the K1-K2 thou, which are compatible with the Y-K3GSXR and SV thou 4-pots, and wasn't impressed, they're heavier, more expensive to maintain, but more importantly all they give you is power at the expense of feel. The 4-pots have enough power to park the bike on your head, so, no reason to give anything away for more IMO. They would, though, fit to those plates most likely if you really want to, some people fit them to SV thous because they're off a thou, and therefore must be better So, you have the choice.

Remember folks, adding big brakes to a soft front end isn't going to give you a massive advantage in braking. Adding these to an already sorted front end, though could be absolutely kick-ass, they're very decent brakes. I'm using mine with fairly gentle road pads (Carbon Lorraine A3) and OE Honda discs (don't ask) and they work an absolute charm, I'd want more for hard track work or if I was Christian Pfeiffer though

Just to let you all know.

I was having a punt at some on gsxr 600 calipers on ebay and lost out - went for £53 + £9 p&p.

So I had another look on ebay and found some SV1000 K3 calipers from 'blacksbikeshop' for £79.50 or best offer. Made an offer of £40.00 and they accepted.

They've still got gsxr 750 calipers for £70.50 or best offer.

Have you started making the plates and/or getting an idea of numbers interested?

I would certainly be interested in a set.

Cheers,

If your rubber lines are in decent shape they'll be fine... How old are they? If they're under a couple of years, just keep 'em stock.
