it's mostly guys in prison so. How about a two chance system. Your left then your right commit a crime twice and you won't be passing on your genes!

The bit I like is where the Goverment says "These strikers are breaking the law!"
So what are they going to do? Put them in Prison? errr...

The notion of profit making prisons is a tricky one. I think the ideal would be one that broke exactly even- whereby the cost of the prisoner being there was zero (or at least negligible) to society, but at least there was no vested interest in keeping them there to make money.

As you say though, there are still going to be knock-on effects outside the prisons like free employees being made redundant. It's a tricky one.

IIRC, it costs the US government more money to execute someone than it does to imprission them for life. This is due to the protracted legal battles that have to be fought before the state is permited to kill the con. in question.

As tempting as it is, it's often short sighted to talk about saving money when it comes to the justice system.
