I think it's slightly different in slow moving traffic. You can pass on the left if passing a queue (think they stipulate like 3 or 4 vehicles or sommat) of slow moving traffic. Still convinced it ain't a good idea, but other than cagers not doing a left observationI can't think of why!

I took a CBT (allbeit with a set of ****s) and they were ranting about not filtering on the left.

Yes but theres also people on youtube that say that filtering is illegal, remeber its a world wide site and the rules are different in different countries.

Undertaking is illegal, you'll get a tug from Mr Policeman if you do it. Thats not to say I havent, especially on the motorway when lane 3 is full of traffic and lanes 1 and 2 are empty for miles and miles and miles. I might nip into lane one undertake and then pop back out into lane 2 or 3 again. I'm very very careful when I do it plenty of checks and keep my speed sensible.

However I dont filter on the left, no way, nope not at all. I'd rather not be pushed into the kerb or squashed against another car, if you filter on the RHS you alwaya have the opposite lane for an escape route, or if you're on the motorway I tend to go between Lanes 1 - 2 or 2 - 3 I wont filter down the outside of lane 3 or I wont filter down the inside of lane 1 i.e between lane 1 and the hard shoulder...

Cheers fizzwheel.
Also see my post above regarding the law on undertaking what you describe on the motorway sounds legal.

I'm reasonably confident its not legal as I've had a b*ll*cking from a policeman for doing it...

Think the key words in the highway code is congested conditions - by the sound of Fizzwheels situation, it isn't congested as such, just an outside lane full of idiots.

Yep, outside lane full of idiots, all travelling at 60 - 65 mph and lanes 1 and 2 completely free of traffic.

Pretty much identical to my accident in Sept 2007 and at about the same speed. Goes to show how quick it happens. Seems the only way you can avoid it is by not filtering, cage driver was at fault, no doubt.
