Oooh just the airbox and tank to go on and I can see if I've broken it in a bad way.

Grinch make sure to turn the engine over repeatedly with a 17mm socket on the alternator rotor bolt if you've had the cams out etc. This is to make sure valves are not hitting pistons BEFORE cranking it on the starter.

I checked and double checked AND ITS ALIVE!...
Wow I didn't break it yet, though I think my exhaust needs repacking. |

Wow... I've got all the way to Nodnol and it still runs, though my paranoia is rife as I seem to think every noise is the engine about to explode.

I take it would be easy for me to tell if I had broken it then?

Generally the horrible clattering as pistons and valves hit each other is the first sign, followed by a total loss of compression on one or both pistons, leaving you with effectivly only one or no working combustion chambers. This would be because the bent valves wouldn't seal so you'd get no compression.
I'm pretty sure you'd have noticed ![]() Jambo

Yep, I've found out it is easy, but it still scared me. Need to get the new shims ordered now and then go through it all again, but will less stress about it all.
After that the next job is re-pack that exhaust, as its offensive even with the baffle in. |
