MOT has a braking force check. Not sure if there is regulation for the lever being somewhere though.

So anything that works? Thumb brakes have been around for years for people with disabilities, so the configuration is well proven as is the engineering of products manufactured specifically purpose. I was voicing concerns over "hacks" that might otherwise be considered illegal.
