Right this has gone on far enough! I know perfectly well how to get a motorbike to go from 0-whatever quicker than some old slaaag in a 1.25 fiesta!!
Please see the below image for reference. Sorry it's not cropped properly but I am using MSpaint. We are sat at traffic lights at point 1. This is a very busy street in the middle of the town in which I live, it's 4 o'clock, those 5 cars parked above point 2 are parked outside a school. The school has not long started kicking out and there are pedestrians, most of them posh teenage girls, everywhere. The lights aren't even green yet but the fiesta woman has started to go. She is already half way to point 2 when I set off. We reach the corner of point 2 at the same time and I am looking to go through the narrow gap but as I start to get beside her she swervs towards me. I have 2 choices, accelerate up to 60 to get past her, something I really don't want to do seeing as there are pedestrians everywhere and also I am going to have to brake soon for the back of the queue to the next set of lights. Or let her get through the narrow gap first and overtake her later. I chose the second option as I felt it was the safest all round. I hope this is a lot clearer for you lot now, now can you please just leave me alone ![]() ![]()

So you're now saying that there was posh teenage totty about. Then you should have been riding *very* slowly

It's not always safe to let the idiot go first and follow on behind them, unless you have turned and got the attention of the drivers behind, and made them question what you are doing and what you are going to do next.
The other traffic in the queue behind expects a bike who has just filtered to the front go get away sharpish and be gone by the time they have to move. Once people see the traffic moving in their peripheral vision, lots of people have clutch up and accelerator down, before they have actually looked where they are going. You leave yourself mixed up amongst traffic who seconds earlier weren't really expecting you to still be there, and some dozy tit may just run into the back of you. The weight of a car, and the laws of inertia, stop anything short of a seriously powerful car, getting away as quick as you. Launch off and leave them standing, getting yourself away into the safety of the clear road ahead. Last edited by -Ralph-; 12-02-10 at 09:27 PM. |

generally i dont have problems with middle aged women in fiestas but she is taking road rage to the next level so i would prob have given her what for or at least banged on the window, s*it her up a bit, silly moo!!
or you could be extreme, i once spoke to a bloke who picked up his bike, must have been 125 or something and threw it through his gf windscreen, he was a big geeza so he looked capable. Last edited by Mej; 12-02-10 at 09:40 PM. |

Hang on. You decided to do that around Eastgate? Are you a lunatic? That bit of road is a nightmare. It's quite steep downhill too.
I'm from Warwick and always drive very very very carefully when I go back home, as I find the drivers are nutters or elderly! I'm there tomorrow so will keep an eye out for you!! |

Which is exactly what I would have done...
A few years ago I'd have been fuming and banged on her windows or tried to remove her mirrors, got myself completely wound up and then rode like a tw*t for the rest of my journey. Not anymore, just shake my head now and try and not loose my temper. Its not worth arguing with an idiot in a car. Especially when you can wait a few seconds for a gap to open up where you can use the power of the bike to nip past them.

![]() An old couple (yes, grey tops, pipe & slippers jobby) jumped the lights & then drifted between their lane & mine on the way to work today. I slowed right down as this was on a sweeping bend and my spidey sense was tingling. The tool in the car following them in 'their' lane, who from the looks of things thought I was being a wuss hanging back, (grey tops in both lanes at this point) got a fright as they slammed the anchors on while deliberating which lane to drive in (only x2). ![]() Must agree, hang back as cars piloted by fools seem to come off best in most collisions.
