That's the trouble you seem to have a choice of totally water proof (sweaty on the inside) or breathable ie goretex stuff which only stands light rain or walking pace.
Hard driving rain on a bike will test the best stuff! if they made one from them old blue/red air bed lilos I'd buy that.

My halvarssons jacket has stood up to some right monsoons and kept me warm and dry. The pockets have never been 100% waterproof, you always get a few drops in there (probably off your sleeve when you get stuff out of them) but no leaks. Had it 3 years or more now and it's still fine

Like Rictus says Triumph gear seems to be thought out when it is designed,I have the two piece with a Gortex type material plus a removable lining which is extremely warm and comfortable.I can't remember who's armour is in it but it is fitted knees,hips,elbows,shoulders and back. Never had any problem with water ingress and plenty of airvent zips for hot days.
My previous suit was Held and that lasted six years with two offs and actually my mates son is using it for trail riding now.
