I get that on my pointy, even with a gel seat fitted, though it takes about 100 miles before it gets unbearable. My RSV is like sitting on a comfy sofa by comparison.

I get numb thumb and forefinger on my right hand if I grip too hard - it's a good sign that I need to relax a bit.

The hand issue, as others have stated, is not so much v-twin related.
Rather it's your hand position and how you are gripping the bars that usually causes the numbness.
Controls, of course need to be in a comfortable, natural feeling location.
Lots of variables there but if you experiment a bit I'm sure you'll find it's a cheap fix that usually does it.

I used to occasionally get the tingles but could always be traced down to stress moments on the bike, so gripping too tight. Obvious, right?
No, wasn't grip but tension of the hand.
Even though I wasn't holding the grips tight, I was still tensing the muscles in my hands in the postion they were in.

On the advice of a mate I fitted a pair of NOJ grip wraps.
Increased grip diameter cured it for me and several other riding mates (of different hand sizes.

Actually mine date from the late nineties. LOL
Had these on a street bike, a quad bike and now back on a street bike on the SV.
I may need a new pair just for looks on the next bike but these still function fine so well worth the £12 they cost today IMHO.

If I weren't a million miles across on the wrong side the ocean, you could of course try mine. Sorry.
Might try wraping foam around the grips and see if it works for you or perhaps could be easily fashioned if you're so inclined. They are simply a piece of nylon backed neoprene with velcro sewed on the ends.
See pic in 1st link.

Of course, then you have to experiment and decide where you want the velcro strip to be when riding, for each hand. LOL

Good luck and again experiment a bit and I'm sure you'll get it sorted.

I forgot to tell you, I also have one of these in the kitchen, and I keep my hands strong when I have periods of no riding. You have little girly hands, and although the YBR wasn't too hard to play with, the SV clutch etc is a little heavier(even though its actually very light).
The throttle, you are obviously gripping a little hard, and a lot of other factors are contributing towards the tingle. See if Chris has got a set of these, cause if your hands are stronger, you won't grip as tight. You won't end up with builders hands don't worry, but if you strengthen what you have it might help . I think they do.
I've had this set since going to France when Matts brother left them here after he looked after the house! Nice of him to do me a favour

I also have a set of chinese chiming balls, as you know. Learn to rotate those without clacking them together, and they help your tendons and guiders down your forearm.

Yeah we have some of these. The clutch isn't an issue, its only my throttle hand. And even if I do have "little girly hands" they're strong enough to pick the SV up so can't be so bad

Think I need to get some new gloves for definite, I find my fingers are pushing the tips of the gloves which probably contributes to the numbness. Alright for short distances but prolonged motorway rides will be an issue.

Thankyou for all your helpful replies!

short answer.....ride more...., seriously if you're looking at new gloves, bear in mind any stitching across the palm as this can be irritating.

I'm probably the worst person to ask about this kind of thing as I hardly notice any sensation over the knee.

Nah, thats brute force and ignorance
hands have nowt to do with it. Try them grippy things anyway, helps for pulling levers none the less, and like I said improves grip on either handlebar, so you aren't gripping overly hard, if that makes sense.

I may have spare pair of summer gloves if it helps, they don't have my usual hard knuckles on them though

Reaching levers not a problem either, it's being sat at high speeds with the constant vibration holding the throttle open. Comfy padding on the gloves as someone mentioned and different grips are probably the way forward. I'm used to heated grips on the YBR and the vibrations on that thing were pretty bad at 50mph lol so I couldn't really sit at that speed for more than a couple of dual carriageways

I know nothing, just offering crazy theories tried and tested for many a year for anything from vibrations, to high speeds etc, not suggesting for pulling levers, just as a general help....and from a 'female' point of view.
The YBR is like a push bike in comparison, new big bike, new rules.
Folk do alsorts of things to combat alsorts of problems.

Its practise that will outdo the high speed thing. I actually find my hands hurt on smaller journeys, twisting things on and off all the time, but then I'm a hardened long distance rider than a twisty turny person, can happily sit at 90 for 300 miles(apart from I can't hold my bladder that long )
The YBR was a little thing that above a certain speed would have been vibrating you out of the seat let alone just the bars, as it practically gasped its last breath to please you

Twas me that suggested gloves somewhere around page two.
