Miele - Awesome power with a matching pricetag!

Dyson - Excellent power and useability, backed by a great warranty. Can be had for a decent -ish price if ya look around

Henry/Hetty/George - Cheap-ish, vertually indestructable and good power, but no match for the two above.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, not very rock'n'roll I know! Have just wangled a refund on the Samsung piece of junk I bought in June, having spent all this time fighting with it. It's a long story but finally when Samsung's not very friendly customer service people said "yeah they all do that" I knew I was flogging a dead horse. Thank you Argos for giving a crap about your customers. Looks like I'm off to get a Dyson after all!

Got a Dyson last week.... brilliant. Can't find the dog now, although I can here muffled barking.
