I like the Sony Xperia Z for the simple fact that it's waterproof. Slap it on a bike, engage satnav, no worries about rain.
There's a "compact" version available now if these 5 inch screen are too big.

I'm thinking I'd be happy with a basic Samsung, on the very rare occasion I have to use sat nav Co Pilot works great, but otherwise I don't use half of what I pay for on contract so am thinking PAYG might be the better option... Not overly impressed with the HTC to be honest thought to its credit its been dropped countless times, got wet on the bike in my pocket on the odd occasion and general day-to-day abuse has seen me still able to make phone calls, I just look an idiot when texting as I have to tip the phone every which way to get to half the keyboard ![]() |

MB, you thought of a 30 day rolling contract? It's what I am moving too until I decide what phone I want. Tesco are currently doing one- 12.50 per month. 300 mins , 1k texts and 2gb data or something like that. It's just a sim and you put it in whatever phone you want.

![]() Suffice to say it's still working perfectly, IP55 rated and I think the newer ones are IP58. The drawback is the little covers over all the slots - so you can't charge it in the rain.

HTC's just about bollicksed now... mine got a bath in methanol today and I don't think it's done it the power of good TBH, so time for change.
So samsung galaxy s4 mini. or maybe sony experia z1 compact. Waterproof which would be useful... but it's another ton on top of the price which I could maybe do without and apparently the camera's crap. Not that I need a pulitzer prize just taking pics of general stuff.

I'll second the Nokia windows phones. There are some things I haven't got used to yet but the camera on the Lumia 920/925 is very good, the maps and satnav are excellent too and you can pick them up fairly cheaply. Maps you can even download and use offline. Cloud storage and back up included
If you want sim only, go Virgin. £15 a month for a big bundle and unlimited data. Coverage is much better than it used to be as it piggybacks TMobile and EE so you get whichever signal is strongest |

Oh fer fooks sake. Talk about simple things made complicated, media transfer protocol to fart about and load a bit of music and satnav software?
Had the thing out of the box 2 minutes and I'm now apparently I've got to root it! (dirty buggers these geeks). Annoying cnuts. Why did the HTC just work as a mass storage drive and this one doesn't? (samsung galaxy s4 mini)

If it's the newer version of Android, you have to change it to mass storage in settings / connectivity. The default is media transfer mode, so it should allow err... Media transfer without turning it into a big memory stick.
Have a look at airdroid if you want to transfer stuff via WiFi. Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
