Comfort? What a daft thing to argue over - it's the second most subjective thing about a motorcycle and thus so personal as not to be worth arguing about. The most subjective is looks, (obviously).
After an SV? Try everything - you never know what you might like, you may find some left-field choice that no-one here is likely to make suits you and the biking you do just perfectly, who knows? But I really mean it - try everything as diverse as you can. The 'bike-I've-got-now-is-the-best-ever' owners club can't be trusted - just about everybody is positive about a bike while they own it, wait 'til it's been replaced to get the owners true feelings about it. As wonderful as a VFR might be most of us don't own one - and it isn't because their owners have warned us off them, VFR owners are the most evangelical of recommenders but they just don't do it for me despite trying several of the differing years, and not just round the block either. Triumphs are rough and uncomfy, the suspension is full of sand, and their seats are made of bricks. Aprilia RSVs are the most disappointing of bikes ever - and I really wanted to like it too. Hondas are fantastic bits of motorcycle engineering I just don't seem to enjoy - there's an instrument missing from the orchestra. Still can't put my finger on what though. The above clearly is all entirely correct as it's my view, but once you've tried a few you may feel different - you'd be wrong obviously - but you never know you might like it like that ![]() So, try everything. I may have mentioned that before?

Completely agree with the Squid, even though he just called my bike disappointing! After a while you realise that you like what you like, if you like it for the wrong reasons you probably soon find out and then get something else you think is perfect, so on and so forth. I buy bikes with my heart, I always wanted an RSV and I ended up getting one, I would never describe it as disappointing but thats my view - its as worthless as me saying another kind of bike is garbage becuase its simply too subjective. I got bored of a Hayabusa ffs. If you want something next you need to see what you like and what turns you on. I dont have a particular need for a bike so I could buy literally any kind I wanted. Id just make sure it wasnt another Suzuki lol

Sid Squid is so right, DJ and I would never agree on what bike is best, and we agree on most things. The most important thing is to test ride before you buy. I am booked in for test rides (yes plural I want choice) on Tuesday, really looking forward to seeing how the different bikes behave.

Test ride, read the opinions of former owners to narrow it down and test ride.
And after you test ride some more, then think about what you need and after a bit of reasoning with yourself (in which you convince yourself of the most ludicrous option), get your checkbook out and prepare for its onslaught. I've gotten myself a Triumph Tiger 1050 after the SV. Definitely not a choice for everyone and, as expected, I'll praise it to death, although I've only done ~500miles on it. I clearly disagree though with the statements of others regarding comfort on this Triumph. I think it's great and the best thing since sliced bread. In other words, don't buy into propaganda, just go and test ride ![]() |

I went for an FZ1....which I sadly sold! But at 145bhp at the rear wheel and touring ability it was a superb beast of a bike!!
