Ouch! That is a shame as the SV is a superb bike. God for beginners and the more seasoned riders too. Plus of course youcan make a very purposeful race bike out of one too. I'm just about to buy my 3rd, or is it 4th, SV. I've had all kind sof bikes, superbikes, supermotos, big tourers, maxi scooters. Out of all that lot I still value the SV as a great bike and will happily own another soon.

If you havent yet check out "wickedquotes". I have been with them for 2 years, really helpful. They answer the phone quickly and you talk to a normal human being.
They have a special deal to attract new passers on 'standard' bikes. The SV650 just falls into their category. The quotes i was getting from them are £200 lower than other companies. Give them a call, run your details through their system. The only thing is they don't like mods so i have had to change away from them when i finally got round to declaring everything. Apparently their underwriters view an S to N conversion, GSXR front end and other bits as a Streetfighter ![]() |

Insurance issue aside, this thread reminds me of -

Sorry - thanks to the anti-swearing software on here, you'll need to replace the asterisks in the URL with the letter 'p' added to the start of 'rick'.

Congratulations on Passing your Mod2.
I brought my SV almost two weeks ago as my first bike and would say it's a great move. ![]() I can't comment on specifics about the 'S' model though. Private is likely to be cheaper however Dealer is very easy to get locks etc. thrown in to sweeten the deal + better protection if turns out to be a lemon. *On the subject of Insurance I just got myself insured TPFT on the SV for £200ish with Express Insurance. No NCD, 21, Full license, K6.* Good luck and hope you find one you like. J

The same bike with the same details for my mum's address in London, however, shot it up to a grand, so it seems to be more about location, location, location... |

Thanks for all the advice, it's really helpful.
Well, I'd like to introduce you to my new bike (see profile photo...still not worked out how to attach a photo on her yet). I' sure you've gathered its SV650S! With it being fully faired i've been told that it will ride quite differently to a naked bike (i did my training on a Suzy Glad). I get it on Wednesday and i am insufferable at the moment without it! |

Natalie that is an awsome looking sv! Well jealous.
Will feel a bit strange at first - more the riding position rather than lack of wind buffeting-but you'll soon get used to it. Don't want to tell you what to do but as a new rider, would really advise doing some advanced training or at lest watching some instructional vids. Transforms your riding and makes you much safer. |
