The hairiest moment i've had on a bike was on the back of an 03' ZX12R.

They don't half go i'll tell you. Very irresponsible rider at times. We've got the longest on-ramp in the UK in Barnsley (junc 37 M1) apparently.
It's a .9 mile straight coming off a 60mph roundabout at it's sloped down at about 15 Deg. You can see the traffic all the way down so just pick an entry spot. We hit the bottom at an indicated 190mph . VERY IRRESPONSIBLE, VERY STUPID, But in my defence i couldn't do anything about it .
needles to say i'll never go pillion with him again

You cheeky young pup !!

Seriously though, no I never had either of those problems & I did used to ride it hard / fast - got the points on the licence to prove it too

Mind you thinking about it some more, it did have the rear jacked up & had an Ohlins shock (from Gixxer 100M) on it - maybe that made a difference - don't know enough about engineering to comment on that !!

Yes - very !!!
hehe having ridden it some more (both my bikes have got electrical faults at the mo ) I think it needs you to be really smooth when accelerating and backing off the throttle. Those things you mentioned would definitely help and its running on Michelin Macadams, which are fine for the SV but not quite upto the task of holding the bandit to the road.

Think its just because im used to light, flickable bikes and then I go on get on that monster it can certainly go round corners pretty handy but youve got to hussle it with all that weight. Seems to have a problem with the front wheel, dont know if you ever came across this? Ermmm...it wont stay down! \/

If it is,I really want a go on one now
That could well have something to do with it

I actually used to run mine with Bridgestone 020's on it (did too many miles to be able to afford the 010's) but I know an awful lot of people who swore by the Macadams.

As for wanting to look at the sky . . .

. . . yep, that IS a Bandit trait if you're not smooth on the throttle when pulling away / exiting a corner !!

The other bike that has absolutely amazing 'pull away' 0- 60 speed is a Goldwing of all things !! Guess it's due to the weight & torque. After 60 though it's acceleration is pretty much f***ed !!

Most powerful: Turbo nitrous 1360 Suzuki straightliner: 268 BHP without the gas, (350+ with?)

I'd like to tell you what a vicious rip snorting murderous b*stard of a motorcycle it is, but it isn't. Fairly linear power, ('kin loads of it mind), 'til the gas comes in but amazingly even then it's actually a nice pleasant forward surge, (a sizeable one!), mightily impressive but actually not worrying at all, although this may be different when used fully in anger, (it's not mine and I didn't want anything nasty happening to it, or, more importantly, me), the lengthened chassis makes it hopeless when you want to turn but then it wasn't built for that.

Scariest: Race prepped Maico 'crosser. Not that much power, but horrible and uncontrollable, bogged down or leapt off to the redline, which as it weighed nothing meant it either stalled or simultaneously span the back and reared up in the air like a nutter, I couldn't ride it, it was awful, (and very tall), but bloody fast in the right hands, which clearly aren't mine, all the same I'd like to try it again.

Most powerful, um, dunno actually - I don't pay any attention to numbers like that.

Scariest, a little fizzy 50CC thing I once road from one friend's house to anothers for them. I swore then I'm never riding something that small again. I felt so vulnerable, slow, unresponsive and light that those few miles were amongst the worst in my life.

I'm honestly less daunted by a Goldwing that a Scooter.

My Falco was a bit of a beast.... Fisrt saturday after I got it I took my son out and we went for a spin. I accelerated a bit quick and couldn't stop laughing when his ankles were up by my head . After that scaring the life out of him, some plonker in his Chav Chariot wanted to go from the lights. That ended up with me pulling a bloody great wheelie and us both giggling.

A few days later I chased a really quick Civic down the road and kicked it from 1st to 2nd which caused the front to rise and it stayed there for about 30 metres Trouble was I just couldn't get it to go round corners, and when I did, it would snake all over the place as I hit the gas comming out... That was a bit scary... Learnt to respect that animal pretty quickly...

I've ridden my mates 'Busa a few times, indicated 180 on the speedo (not in the UK) and the bike is so stable..... Blackbird was so easy to ride fast it seemed ridiculous, just so clinical in everything that it did.

I'd go for the Falco being my scariest ride, but I'd like to try both a TLS and a TLR...

Just referring back to sv4me's original post, I'm with B.Biggles on this....

IMHO, I reckon there are three types of "scary" bike:

1. Those perfectly set-up road machines that just happen to have a whole load more power than you are used to....but to which you would become accustomed in time. Like any Ducati/Mille/ZX10/GSX etc.

2. Competition machines which are set up for a specific purpose and which, when ridden in different circumstances are less than manageable. Like an RC211V through central London.

3. Lastly, there are the bikes which are/were just not engineered properly for the power they develop and the intended use (could be too much or even too little as per K's post above). In this respect, the journos duffed up the TL1000S (and I think it had a recall for safety mods?). I never rode one so I can't comment, but I rode an H1 Kawasaki and that was a 120mph BAD mother... (although very exhilirating once you had stopped!!!)
