Re: the PC Gaming thread
A little Elite update...
I've now gotten past 1mil in assets, 300k in credits on tap and doing a mix of trading, exploring, bounty hunting in my moderately pimped out Cobra with gumballed lasers/multi cannons, 32t cargo and 13ly jump range.....find a good trading route and do that in between killing stuff Next on the list is an ASP but that'll need 50mil assets to be a force to be reckoned with! Glad I have gaming laptop...I'll be playing in the evening when stuck in a hotel come mid Jan onwards. @Redmist, add me to friends in the game, same nickname as here...

I've moved upto a Hauler doing trade routes. Still learning the ship handling though so soon I'll feel upto taking on some combat too (Not with the Hauler!) Will add you next time I'm on. Even the trading is quite satisfying to I'm enjoying it a lot. Do you play mainly SOLO or ONLINE? I started online but for certain missions it was like everybody else was doing the same one and therefore I has to switch to SOLO to complete them.

Re: the PC Gaming thread
I played solo until the cobra...now I'm open all the time.
I've started investigating unknown signal sources in Anarchy systems and today I got ganged on by 2 eagles and a sidewinder...down to 50% after losing shields twice and only just managed to recoup repair costs with the earned bounties! After all the hard work of building up your finances it really gets the blood pumping when you're getting a beating! I still need to get a lot better at combat and distributing power between subsystems suitably for each situation, more to system for shield repairing, more to weapons when attacking etc In theory open or solo should make little difference...especially if you've travelled away from the start location or sol! It's dangerous out there regardless! Get good at escaping interdictions!

Re: the PC Gaming thread
I have been playing always open unless there was a big queue at an outpost, when I would save and exit to solo to get easy access.
After dumping my unarmed starter Sidewinder I fecked off somewhere (much) quieter (never any queues) in my now pimped but unarmed Hauler. Building my rep there with an Independant, cargo missions, exploring and working up my trading routes. Saving for a Cobra and see if that gets me into the gunz! Yup the old heart skips when you see another player further out, friend or foe? I scanned the only other human outside a station in my neck of the woods (a harmless Viper) and I think he got spooked and fecked off!? Or maybe I was lucky I had reached the no-fire zone after a recent interdiction with my boat full of Auto Fabricators! Absolutely loving it. |

Re: the PC Gaming thread
I'm loving my mini cannons, took 2 secs to destroy an Adder after his shields were gone...stupid idiot thought it was a good idea to interdict me....was an easy 8K
One thing I am doing now is taking a wide berth when super cruising to stations, putting the hud info to the outside and approaching in a curve...seems to cut back the number of interdictions as I'm not in the main flight path I'm mostly C rated with all my bits (except weapons which are hard to find and expensive), once I get to B for power/shields/thrusters I'll go for a gigantic wander into empire space and earn from discovery I think
