Could be Craig. I'm in the process of packaging it up to send back. I assume they'll test it under load so I should know in a few days.

Over the years I've seen posts on other M/C forums about ,"Electrex " Q/C :/

I'm sill running a <10 quid Ceramic Mosfet R/R on my 99. Been on there around 3 years now.

Have a read here as I hate Electrical block connectors in M/C charging systems.

and for the cheapy,

Also the cheap Powerline Battery is still going strong after 3 years.

Reg/rec is back with Electrex World now, so I'm just waiting to hear from them. Hoping to have a working item back asap so I can put the bike back on the road!

I would not be in too much of a hurry - unless you like riding in the wet!

Indeed RT, it's not the best July weather I've seen. Still, it will be good to have the bike running again.

Just had an email from Electrex World telling me that they had finished testing my reg/rec, and would I like a refund or replacement.
Replacement please!

Good that they've got to the bottom of it, and decent customer service too.

Yay! New reg/rec arrived yesterday. Won't have a chance to fit it though till Thursday as Jan and I are away for a few days.

Reg/rec now fitted and working. 14.5v with no load, 14.17 with the headlights on. What a difference it's made. No more lumpy, erratic running at low rpm and it ticks over evenly. I had thought the rough running at the lower rev range was down to worn carbs after 106,000 miles, but it appears the problem was the reg/rec. I have a suspicion the one I fitted last October was faulty from the start.

Took the old girl out for a test ride of about 50 miles this evening (as one does) and it's a joy to ride again.
