Reevus are the sort of thing IAM types need, so they can count how many of the local Daewoo Matizs are queuing up behind them to overtake as they bimble from bend to bend.
They were plugging them at a IAM meeting to give you the honest answer.
The latter bit definitely ain't the club I'm with.

The gimmick thing was why I was wanting to try it with the SV (everyone that tested was on a barge).

Thanks Lozzo cleared my next Q up to you about that

Working where I do, I get to see some real stinkers of helmets when customers bring them in.

One guy came in with an old Quantum F that had been custom painted (from the quality, by his 3-year-old son) and as I changed the visor for him, gave it a quick check over. The shell had scrapes and scars all over it, so I asked him if he had dropped it at any point. He responded by saying he'd had it for seven years and had dropped it a couple of times when he was racing, including when he was knocked out after wolloping his head highsiding at Brands Hatch. He said the impact had shattered the holder set, but otherwise the helmet was fine.
Now, bearing in mind the holder set of an Arai is specifically designed to keep the visor and mechanism on the helmet in the event of a crash, that was concerning, so I checked the lining...it was covered in big cracks and dips, especially around the top of the head. It was worn down to such an extent he'd had to have the pads from the helmet the size up put in to compensate. It would have given him all the impact protection of a cardboard hat, and yet he wasn't interested in getting something new.

My advice is to get a new helmet, straight away.

Oh, and the reevus are clever, but bloody uncomfortable. What I want to see is the lining with the cooling gel that's been developed to reduce head injuries. Heard about it some time last year, and nothing more!

!
That's racers for you, bloody pikeys the lot of them. If it won't make the bike faster or handle better they won't spend money on it, and that extends to kit too.
