Read my link above - there is NO discretion in this. 6 points = no license.

Only way to have swerved that would have gone to court and hoped that the court handed out a punishment not including points.

+1

A ban is better than 6 points for a new driver, current legislation means as a new driver you are better to break the speed limits by a serious margin which is off the points scale...

"If you take a fixed penalty of 6 points and a £200 fine then your licence will be revoked automatically. The dvla will be told about the points by the police and they will then write to you and tell you your licence is revoked. If you carry on driving you will be committing further offences and could put yourself at risk of a 6 month totting up ban."
As above mate. It just takes a few days for the ticket office to update DVLA who then write to you. Watch the post and as other have said, buy some L plates.

Might have to look into the T-shirt aha

In answer to what licence i received back it was my pink one with all entitlements still on it along with paper counterpart with 6points on it 2 x sp30s :/

Paid fine on Monday received it back on Thursday. Still nothing from the DVLA. If i have nothing in the next week i will give them a ring and see what they are saying.

Could a CBT count as the start of the 2 years?

Did you by any chance pass car before bike? Maybe they took that date or maybe human error. Licence doesnt normally come back and if it does it has the points on it.

If you were fined under new drivers act you would have to pay and re apply for licence again. Does licence show 6 points now? As many others have said, call DVLA and get it cleared up. Their error will still be your fault if stopped, its not worth getting wrong.

SP 30 is speeding in built up area I think, got my cheat sheet at work.

SP30 is a standard speeding offence on any road except a Motorway

Actually thinking about this.

Its not a ban is it, just a loss of license.

So surely he could be back on the road as soon as he passes some tests?

Yes, real quickly if everything goes right, its time to book and take the tests and paying for it all again.

Unless I am very much mistaken he can be back on the road immediately----but as a"L" Driver------------------I can't find out a positive definition regarding a bike,as in do you have to take all parts of the test or just the riding part, even so back to 125cc or a restricted bike
Another interesting point is that after you have taken your retests you still have the points on your new license.
It will be interesting to see what an insurance company makes of it all
