Please keep your wallet away from the magnets. My VISA card died in Italy this summer. And I can tell you, it's not easy to get gazoline and food without hard cash or with amex in Italy. I had my wallet in my pocket, and I guess it came too close to the magnets when leaning over the tankbag in 170 km/t +.

The topbox came in handy to save the rest of my cards

Default They're ugly but oh so useful

I've got the Givi hardbags mounted. Once you get over the look, they're oh so useful. Highly recommended. Easy on/off and totally secure and weather tight.

I have mixed feelings on the one. Most of my previous bikes have sported a top box. I have to admit that it doesn't quite work on the SV650S either on an aesetic or a practical level.

I could cope with the loss of the pillion seat but losing the underseat storage as well makes the Sukuki top box a no-no for me. It does little for the style of the SV.

Instead I have purchased an Oxford Sport expander tank bag. This holds loads of stuff. I managed to stash a full face helmet and all my gear (Belstaff jacket and over-trousers plus gloves in the bag without problems.

I can fit my Dell notepad computer into the bag. However I have the extra thin Latitude model. I don't think that a standard sized notepad would fit. The tank bag also has the advantage that I can use it on either of my bikes.

I am still considering panniers for the SV650S as I would like to give it a more 'touring' configuration following the arrival of my GSX R600. Any advice on panniers suitable for the SV would be appreciated.

I use the Givi set-up. There is no need to have the plate at the rear for the top box you can get away with just the side sections. The top plate does mean that if you only want 1 panniers worth of gear you can just use a pannier on the top box plate! instead of being unbalanced.

No funnily you should mention that, but I have some givi sides sections for sale!! PM me if you are interested.
